 If you have a passion for research, you will be passionate about working for VA. One of the largest medical research organizations in the United States, VA conducts more than 10,000 research projects at 115 different facilities.
VA funds several types of research programs. Basic and clinical studies focus on a variety of medical conditions, such as stroke, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, AIDS, cancer, and spinal cord injuries. Many VA research programs explore subspecialty areas, including cardiology, neurology, prosthetics, and rehabilitation, while others foster multidisciplinary research, pilot studies, and scientific training. The goal of all VA research is to improve the health of our patients by determining the effectiveness of current treatments and testing new treatments for health care problems common to Veterans.
