Compensation Package

Your compensation for your VA Locum Tenens work includes salary, benefits, lodging, meals, and even incidentals. So in addition to the gratification of serving America's Veterans, our Locum Tenens professionals receive compensation that matches their dedication. That means an impressive compensation package that surpasses those found in private practice.

Salary
VA physicians earn market pay that is designed to be competitive with local physician labor markets. Exact starting salary is determined by a physician compensation pay panel, and is commensurate with your education and experience. Contact a recruiter today to discuss your potential pay range.

Liability Protection
When weighing your options, you'll want to consider the fact that VA Locum Tenens health care providers are entitled to liability protection during and after their career at VA for VA patient care services. There are no fees or salary deductions associated with this protection, and more importantly, there is no tail to pay if you leave.

Benefits
Full- and part-time VA Locum Tenens professionals are eligible for a wide range of Federal Government benefits, based on the length and type of appointment you accept.
  • Paid vacation, sick leave, and federal holidays that fall within the scheduled tour of duty
  • Federal Employees Health Benefits plan, with costs shared by VA
  • Federal retirement benefits, with employer matching
  • Life insurance coverage
  • Long-term care insurance
  • Flexible spending accounts

Lodging, Travel & Per Diem
VA's travel package is first-class and in addition to the salary you earn. It includes paid travel expenses, lodging, meals, and incidentals. Since we reimburse you according to GSA Domestic Per Diem Rates, our travel package is comparable to full-time government service.
