Academic Medicine. VA manages one of the largest medical education and health professionals' training programs in the world through its affiliations with 107 of the Nation's 125 medical schools. VA physicians have the opportunity to enjoy faculty appointments at affiliated medical schools and are encouraged to teach medical students, residents, and fellows during their clinical rotations.
Continuing Medical Education. VA offers access to a wide array of continuing education opportunities, ranging from local grand rounds to robust online/on-demand Web-based activities to national state-of-the-art conferences and workshops.
Administrative Medicine. For physicians with an interest in augmenting clinical, academic, or research activities with an administrative career, there are numerous opportunities within the VA health care system for using and enhancing administrative skills. VA cultivates physician leadership by providing a variety of specialized in-house training, continuing education, and formal development programs, such as Leadership VA, as well as by providing funding to attend relevant external programs.
