PROSTHETIC REPRESENTATIVE

Prosthetic Representatives serve in the Prosthetic and Sensory Aids Service (PSAS) at VA medical centers. The mission of the PSAS is to provide specialized quality patient care by furnishing properly prescribed prosthetic equipment, sensory aids, and devices in the most economical and timely manner in accordance with authorizing laws, regulations, and policies.

Our PSAS serves as the pharmacy for assistive aids and as case manager for the prosthetic equipment needs of disabled Veterans. The special mission of the PSAS is to be the VA Central Office advocate for a core population of Veterans with special needs for prosthetic equipment, devices, and sensory aids.

Program Summary

Upon successful completion of the program, trainees will be eligible for placement as permanent Federal employees in a Prosthetic Service that best fits their skills, needs, and circumstances.

Our objective for this training program is to ensure that all trainees enter their first placement position with the technical, professional, supervisory, and managerial knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to effectively manage a PSAS.
