The Oklahoma City VA Healthcare System's Surgery Service is recruiting for a SICU Director.Surgical care is provided in the outpatient setting through an Ambulatory Procedure Unit (APU) and in the inpatient setting through innovative, collaborative arrangements with our academic and community partners and other Veteran Affairs facilities. The SICU Director will fully participate in management of the SICU scheduling as well as manage Level II High Surgical Risk Conference and develop and implement programs for improved patient perioperative care. Duties include but are not limited to:
- Provides consultative services on patients referred from other sections of the medical center and other VA's, provides emergency services as assigned.
- Coordinates and communicates care between VA facilities and other healthcare facilities outside of the VA system.
- Performs administrative components of patient care management such as: provides dictation of progress notes, operative reports, discharge summaries, and consultative services for inpatients and outpatients.
- Responds to patient telephone calls, informs patients of test results, and renews prescriptions.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am to 4:30pm. Nights and weekends could be required as Physicians are paid 24/7.
