Why We're the Best

At VA, you'll experience consistent Locum Tenens satisfaction everywhere you go. We offer true nationwide travel opportunities, consistency of practice, and a patient-focused system—all with a stable, Government employer. In addition to these impressive benefits, VA is also proud of the following facts:

  • With more than 1,400 medical centers and outpatient clinics nationwide, VA is the largest, most technologically advanced health care system in the U.S.
  • Experts say VA leads the Nation in quality care and patient satisfaction
  • VA is committed to implementing evidence-based practice guidelines that positively impact patient safety for more than 8 million U.S. Veterans

Compensation Package

Your compensation for your VA Locum Tenens work includes salary, lodging, meals, and even incidentals. So in addition to the gratification of serving America's Veterans, our Locum Tenens professionals receive compensation that matches their dedication.

VA physicians earn market pay that is designed to be competitive with local physician labor markets. Exact starting salary is determined by a physician compensation pay panel, and is commensurate with your education and experience.

Liability Protection
When weighing your options, you'll want to consider the fact that VA Locum Tenens health care providers are entitled to liability protection during and after their career at VA for VA patient care services. There are no fees or salary deductions associated with this protection, and more importantly, there is no tail to pay if you leave.

Lodging, Travel & Per Diem
VA's travel package is first-class and in addition to the salary you earn. It includes paid travel expenses, lodging, meals, and incidentals. Since we reimburse you according to GSA Domestic Per Diem Rates, our travel package is comparable to full-time government service.
